In modern business it’s simply impossible to be taken seriously as a company unless you have a website of your own. It doesn’t matter if you are looking to pursue local customers or you want to sell products or services online, you need to have a website for your business, period.
One of the most important things you need to determine when creating your own business website is which platform to use for it. These platforms are called CMSs, or content management systems and they allow you to manage your website and change it as you see fit.
Today I will present WordPress, the most popular CMS and why this platform is the best for building business websites.
1. WordPress sites can be found easily by search engines
All of the most popular search engines can easily find WordPress websites. This is because Google understands the WordPress framework and the crawlers which are designed to index websites can easily find those built on WordPress and understand them. WordPress websites also have an advantage for SEO optimization, meaning that you can rank higher in less time and get more organic traffic.
2. It’s completely free
No matter if you want to start you own blog or you need a fully functional business website, WordPress is free. Given the fact that businesses need to get a website as soon as possible, this can be very convenient – a lot of startups don’t have a big budget during their initial phases and saving money any way possible is a priority.
Unlike other CMSs that are “free”, WordPress doesn’t have any hidden costs and won’t ask you for money after you’ve built your site and you cannot afford to lose it.
3. It allows a lot of customization
WordPress is not only the most widely used CMS in the whole world, but it also has one of the largest communities around itself. This community has come up with many different plugins and themes designed for WordPress.
These plugins and themes allow you to customize your website very quickly, change how it looks, adjust functionalities, and overall make a business website more suitable to your customers. As WordPress is open source, the community has created many things and you can literally find anything you imagine.
4. It has great e-commerce options
If you are looking to turn your business website into a full-blown online store, you will naturally need to convert it into an e-commerce. Luckily, there are many e-commerce sites powered by WordPress and a lot of e-commerce plugins for WordPress.
The most popular one is WooCommerce, which will soon have its own hosting options apart from the customizations and e-commerce features it already provides. Acquiring this and many other e-commerce plugins is very easy and they can be set up very quickly, which is yet another advantage of WordPress.
5. WordPress is secure
Given the fact that most websites in the world are powered by WordPress, it’s no surprise that a lot of hackers have tried to breach them. Even though some attacks have been successful in the past, the security fixes have long since been applied and websites secured.
Since WordPress has such a large community, where there are a lot of developers and programmers, they have adequate feedback for security and reporting. This helps them come up with good security updates at all times. These updates are automatic and they will keep your website safe, so don’t ignore them.
6. Everything is instantly available
A lot CMSs require countless updates and later installations to be able to use everything that they have to offer. With WordPress this is not the case. As soon as you install it for the first time, you will be able to use all of the functionalities it offers.
There will be no need for further installations or add-ons to help you use it properly. Still, plugins have to be downloaded and installed if you want to use any additional functionalities.
7. Amazing community
As I mentioned earlier, the WordPress community is one of the largest ones when it comes to CMSs. This has many benefits and customer support is one of them.
If you want to learn to use WordPress by yourself to create your site and manage it, you can quickly find countless free instructional lessons you can learn from. On the other hand, if you come across any problems, you can always find answers online because somebody has already had this problem and fixed it.
Building a business website is a must and you need to do this as soon as possible. Start off with something simple and nice-looking, and then build on it as WordPress allows you to do this effectively.
No brainer on so many levels Andrea. I see the community support aspect of WordPress being a big factor in choosing WP over other options. Solutions abound across Google and YouTube because millions us dot org. Not so for other site builders, where finding answers proves to be frustrating and time consuming.
Thanks for sharing 🙂

Hi Ryan, I definitely agree about how important community support is – especially for those of us who are not very technical. When we think we are the only one having a specific problem, it is very helpful and a huge time-saver to find out that we are not alone and to find the answer.
